The Vice President came for the German Chocolate.
In 2021, Vice President Kamala Harris came to Brown Sugar Bakery. Literally, the Secret Service was in there sweeping the bakery. I thought my staff was pulling an April Fools' prank. She came not just to the bakery — she came to 75th Street. And the cake she came for was the German Chocolate.
This cake is our tribute to that day. Built with the same care we'd give any cake that leaves this counter, because that's the standard around here — the standard the women on this block built. It not only made us feel good. It made our whole neighborhood feel good.
